We are recruiting a number temp to perm Maintenance Assistants for a leading University based in West London. These opportunities present a unique chance to join a large static in house estates team on a temp to perm basis within building services.

You will be offered lots of training and you can go onto enhance your skills and qualifications within the world of building services maintenance within this role.  A 10 day training course will be provided to all new operatives subject to successful completion of probation. The opportunity to undertake an apprenticeship is also an option if the roles goes permanent (based upon business needs), to upskill in a maintenance related trade subject to successful completion of any other University requirements.

As Maintenance Assistant, you will be working as part of an In House Estates team. You will enjoy a varied range of daily tasks on the campus such as:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on a range of building services and systems
  • Undertaking checks and testing on building systems
  • Assisting in minor installation work
  • Basic electrical duties such as lamp changes
  • Basic plumbing duties
  • Carpentry duties and general fabric tasks
  • Fire door maintenance and installation
  • Working in accordance with health and safety legislations
  • Using a CAFM system and PDA device
  • Offering first class customer service at all times  

If you are looking for a busy, multi skilled role, where you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your building services skills, then this is the role for you! As a function of this role, you could be involved in working at heights, manual handling, the removal of waste and moving of furniture. These roles are starting straight away on a temporary to permanent basis and are either 8.30 - 4.30 Monday - Friday, or shift hours within the day. 

We are looking for Maintenance Professionals with:

  • Experience of working within the Maintenance, Property or Building sector in the UK  - this is essential, you must have some prior maintenance experience to apply to this role
  • Experience of building services maintenance within a similar environment
  • Experience of a trade such as plumbing, carpentry or electrical maintenance
  • A stable CV that shows consistent work 
  • Studying towards or a desire to study towards a trade qualification i.e., NVQ level 2
  • An understanding of the basic principles of health and safety requirements
  • Strong IT skills
